Short Bio

Hyun Jong Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University (SNU), Korea, where he is also affiliated with the New Media Communications Research Institute. Before joining SNU in 2024, he was a faculty member at POSTECH (2020-2024) and UNIST (2013-2020) in their respective Departments of Electrical Engineering.

His professional background includes significant industry experience as a Staff II, Systems Design Engineer at Broadcom Corp. in Sunnyvale, California, where he led physical-layer algorithm design and participated as a 3GPP RAN1 delegate. He also conducted advanced research as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from KAIST.

Prof. Yang’s research group, the Advanced Intelligent Systems Lab, focuses on the synergy between Wireless Communications and Artificial Intelligence, with core interests in AI-Native RAN (AI-RAN), Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC), and Distributed Machine Learning for Connected Advanced Systems such as Robots.

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves as an Associate Editor for several prestigious journals. He also actively contributes to many international conferences as a member of the Technical Program Committee or Organizing Committee.
